William James (Bill) Brooks went to be with the Lord on November 23. Bill was born in Greenville, TX, on July 23, 1926 to M.M. and Juliette White Brooks. As a young boy he moved to Abilene, TX, where he attended public schools. After serving in the Navy he attending Hardin-Simmons University. He then worked in the auto finance business in Wichita Falls where he met Jane Drummond whom he married in 1954. The family came to San Antonio in 1962 and Bill managed the Ford Motor Credit office for 27 years. He retired in 1989 and began a woodworking hobby, volunteered as a bluebird at Methodist Hospital and baked many cookies for the Burn Survivor Society. Bill was an active member of Alamo Heights United Methodist Church.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Don and infant daughter Martha. He is survived by his wife Jane, daughter Nancy and husband James Robinson, son Mike and wife Linda, daughter Mary and husband Lester Purdham, grandson Timothy Brooks, sister-in-law Margie Brooks and nephews Lee, Steve & Jim Brooks.
A memorial service is planned for Monday, Dec. 9 at 11:00AM at Alamo Heights Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests gifts to Habitat for Humanity or a
