Rita Margaret Conway was born in Milwaukee, Wis., in November 1954, and passed away Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, after a long struggle with breast cancer. She dedicated her life to understanding the natural healing process and believed that union with nature and non-attachment to any particular outcome is the key to physical and mental health. She became a Naturopathic Doctor (ND) in 1988 and opened a successful practice until her cancer was diagnosed. Her inner strength allowed her to remain vibrant and vital with remarkable grace and fortitude throughout her 19-year illness. Rita is survived by her husband, Mark Tomes; daughter, Leah Grotzinger; stepson, Chris Tomes and Loren Krokowski; eight siblings; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends all over the country. A memorial in honor of Rita's life will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at her house in Santa Margarita. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for details. The family is asking attendees to refrain from bringing flowers, however, cards, other crafted remembrances and stories and songs to share are welcome. Donations to honor Rita can be made to the Cancer Support Community in Paso Robles, who provided great support and friendship to Rita over the past three years.
