A Resident of Scotts Valley
Alan Harding, 91, of Scotts Valley, passed away September 15, 2013 at Dominican Hospital of a heart condition. He was born in Skelton-in-Cleveland in North Yorkshire, England on November 19, 1921 to William Edward and Violet Perry Harding. He was preceded in death by his brother Frank, sisters Vera and Renée. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Anne LeBlond Harding, his sons Perry of Thousand Oaks, Ian of San Mateo, and William Edward of Santa Cruz, and daughter Renée of Scotts Valley, 5 grandchildren, and his niece Dinah Lord of Preston, Lancashire, England. Prior to his college education, Alan served in the Royal Air Force for six years, primarily in Egypt during World War II. He received his Masters degree in Engineering at the University of Cincinnati after emigrating to America in 1951 on a scholarship from the Marshall Plan. He was a lifetime member of the American Institute of Industrial Engineers and the Society of Professional Engineers. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and his children, and was a strong supporter of the Lucille Packard Children's Hospital.
No services will be held at Alan's request. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lucille Packard Children's Hospital in Palo Alto, California.
