1/3/53 - 3/19/14
Resident of Santa Cruz
Leon "Lee" Samaroo, Lee passed away at home in his sleep the evening of 3/18/14. Always positive and hopeful, Lee was open minded and a respectful listener, with a strong interest in others perspective. Lee worked various jobs, consistently involving help others. Quick with a joke and just as quick to offer intelligent advice, Lee served those he knew well and without hesitation.
Born January 3rd, 1953, in Diego Martin, Trinidad, Lee graduated St. Mary's College (High School) in Port of Spain, Trinidad. He was baptized under the name Peter at Evangelist Catholic Church of Diego Martin, and respect for universal spirituality remained part of his perspective throughout his life. He is survived by brothers Rajkumar of Palmdale, CA, Ramcoomar of Chicago, Anthony of Harvey, LA., Samuel and John, both of Florida, sister Lynn of Chicago, aunts Janet and June of Trinidad, as stepmother Susan, as well as 9 cousins and many nieces and nephews.
Leaving Trinidad n 1970 for New York, Lee attended The Ohio State University (he would want the name noted in this manner), and then moved to Santa Cruz, where he lived and worked to his passing.
Lee made a lasting impact on the many people with whom he interacted, and his humor, insight, honesty, and support will be missed.
