Scott Douglas Durward, age 59, of Aptos, CA passed away Dec 25, 2013. He was born Apr 6, 1954 in Manhattan Beach CA, to John (Jack) Durward and Geraldine Durward, and baptized in the Lutheran church by cousin Rev. Conrad Koosmann.
His father coached Scott on the Ladera Heights Little League baseball team. Scott worked at Duray Inc. throughout his childhood. He graduated from Inglewood High School 1972, and served in US Army from 1972 to 1974.
Scott began his career as a tradesman at Duray Inc. where he learned the cabinetry trade after his military service. In 1975, Scott relocated to Santa Cruz, CA and worked as a cabinet maker before opening his own custom cabinetry business in 1977.
Scott will be remembered as a talented craftsman and woodworker, a proud supporter of conservative California politics, an avid golfer, skier, tennis player and athlete.
Like his father, Scott coached his sons' Little League and soccer teams. Scott had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include sons John (Jack) Durward of Walnut Creek, Peter Durward of Aptos, daughter Brooke Carey Ahrens of San Jose, 2 granddaughters, sister Jaycee Durward of Las Vegas, NV, brother Don Durward of Palos Verdes, CA, sister-in-law Gay Durward, and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Scott was preceded in death by his father John (Jack) Durward, and his mother Geraldine Durward.
A memorial celebration will be held at 2pm, Saturday January 25, 2014 at the Elks Lodge 150 Jewell St, Santa Cruz, CA 95060.
