William Douglas Brown Jan 21, 1927 - Jan 10, 2013 Resident of Aptos, CA William Brown of Aptos, died on January 10, just short of his 86th birthday. He was born in San Jose, California to Douglas and Edna Brown. He attended the University of Washington before entering the Navy. When released from the Navy, he enrolled at San Jose State University. It was in San Jose where he met his wife of 53 years, Barbara. Bill moved with his family to Aptos in December of 1962, and lived in the same house for 50 years. He worked in the Silicon Valley in the electronics field, enduring the long commute so that his family could live and be raised in beautiful Aptos. He was a proud Mason with Scottish Rite, and loved to read his Sentinel and Chronicle from front to back each day, keeping his mind sharp as a tack until the day of his passing. Bill (and Barbara) loved to travel, and enjoyed many, many trips to England, Europe, Mexico, Asia and Hawaii. They passed on this love of travel to their children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, and is survived by his four children, Leo Brown of Idaho, Amy Nakasako (Rick) of Fremont, Paul Brown (Andi) of South Lake Tahoe, Katy Schrum (Norm) of Magalia, eight grandchildren, Rachel (Scott), Kristi, Mason, Natalie, Samantha, Bryan, Molly, and Michael, three great-grandchildren, Nia, Easton and Jaiden, and his beloved cousin, Barbara Jean Moorhead. A celebration of life will be held at the Brown home in Aptos this summer. The Brown children would like to thank the wonderful neighbors who loved and supported their parents, the Grey Bears, and the Aptos Fire Department for their service over the years.
