GEORGE M. STONE George M. Stone, 86, passed away peacefully in his Santa Fe home on March 26, 2013. George was born in Boston, Massachusetts, spent much of his career in Houston, Texas, and semi-retired to Santa Fe in 1991. The youngest of three boys born to Sam and Bea Stone, George was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers, Arnold Stone and William Stone. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Lysbeth Kaye Stone; and his three devoted daughters: Karen Stone Mickool (Ed) of Santa Fe, Susan Stone Woodard (Rex) of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Cindy Stone Murphy (Brian) of Santa Fe. He will be missed also by his adoring niece Paula Stone Borge (Vebe) of New York, New York, nephew Andrew McKie (Nancy) of Boston, Massachusetts; three grandchildren: Emily Aline Stewart, George Dane Woodard, and Allison June Woodard; and numerous family members and friends. George was a U.S. Army WWII veteran via the Army Specialized Training Program and a 1949 graduate of Yale University. He retired as a Senior Vice President of Allied Stores in Houston, Texas, then became a private business consultant and community volunteer. President of the Yale Club of Santa Fe for ten years, George served also with SCORE Santa Fe, FACT, and Santa Fe Desert Chorale. When not celebrating life with friends, George could be found reading an action-packed novel or simply enjoying the view from their lovely home. His remarkable sense of humor was exceeded only by his dedication to his family and the needs of others. George Stone made the world a better place for all who knew him, and everyone loved George. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to the Food Depot of Santa Fe, Espaola Valley Humane Society, Freedom Public Library (P.O. Box 159, Freedom, NH 03836) or any charitable organization that serves people in need. 417 East Rodeo Rd. Santa Fe, NM 87505 Phone: (505)989-7032 Fax: (505)820-0435 santafefuneraloption.com
