As an only child, Janet was often seen working at her parent's store where she developed a sense of fashion and style. Throughout her life, Janet was always "well dressed". Janet went to the University of Texas in 1953 for her first two years of college where she was active in they Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Janet transferred to the University of Oklahoma in 1955 and, ultimately, graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Education in 1957. Her early career including teaching grade school English and her passion for learning made her an avid reader throughout her life. While at the University of Oklahoma, Janet met her future husband, Bill Moffett. They married on May 10, 1958 and shortly after had their two children. Janet Elizabeth Moffett arrived on March 27, 1959 and William Mitchell Moffett was born on June 8, 1960. Bill worked for Exxon Oil Company for his entire career. Janet was passionate about the Santa Fe Animal Shelter where she volunteered and served on the Board for many years. Janet was also engaged with the Santa Fe dog community and helped with obedience classes throughout the city. Janet was fond of, and owned, many basset hounds throughout the years. Janet was often driving all over the country to attend dog shows with her many friends. She was an active member of the Basset Hound Club of America and the Sussex Spaniel Club of America. Janet will be best remembered as being a "ball of energy" with a quick laugh and full of fun. She was a smart and strong woman. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. Janet had a thoughtful and kind approach and had a curiosity that fed her many interests and activities. She will be greatly missed. Janet is preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) A.
