MANUEL R. MOYA Manuel "Manny" R. Moya, age 65, suddenly passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2012. Manny was a 25 year Veteran of the Santa Fe Police Department. Officer Moya received The Medal of Valor, the highest award given by the Santa Fe Police Department. Manny also served in the US Navy in Vietnam where he received multiple awards among those was a Purple Heart. Manny's life and world revolved around his family, especially his grandchildren whom he cherished every moment. He is preceded in death by his father, Manuel Moya, Sr.; his mother, Flora Moya; and sister, Patsy Montoya. He is survived by his son, Robert Moya (Alma); his daughter, Erica Valdez (George); his grandchildren: Robert Moya, Jr., Adrian Moya, Alysha Moya, Mariah Johnson, Joaquin Lopez, Alyssa Valdez, and Angel Valdez. He is also survived by his siblings: Gene Moya, Kate Moya, Mike Moya and Virginia Suarez, along with many nieces and nephews. Manny was very well liked and respected by all he crossed paths with. Manny will be dearly missed by all who knew him including his fellow brothers and sisters in the Law Enforcement Community. A visitation will be held on Monday, November 12 at Berardinelli Family Funeral Service from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, November 13 at Saint Anne's Catholic Church at 10 a.m. with burial immediately after at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
