Mr. David Edwin Scharff - AUGUSTA - Mr. David Edwin Scharff, 77, of Augusta, GA, passed away on March 2, 2013 at Trinity Hospital. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 1pm at Westover Memorial Park with Rabbi David Sirull officiating. Pallbearers will be Dr. Louis Scharff, III, Douglas Scharff, Laurence Scharff, Michael Scharff, Ben Cheek, Norman Dolgoff, Duncan Fordham, and Dr. Mickey Crouch. Honorary pallbearers will be The Boys of Green Meadows, Dr. William Neumann, Dr. Danny Newman, Dr. Hy Sussman, Dr. Nelson Conger, Wayne Peloquin, and Chris Nicholson. David was born in Augusta, GA but was raised in Savannah. He returned to Augusta in 1963.He graduated from the University Of Georgia School Of Pharmacy. He was a former member of the Congregation Children of Israel. He opened the GA Regional Hospital Pharmacy where he served as the director until his retirement. After his retirement he went to work at Peach Orchard Pharmacy where he was the Pharmacist in Charge. He enjoyed and spent many happy hours at Green Meadows Golf Club of Augusta. David was one of the original members of the Westlake Country Club. He enjoyed playing golf and tennis. He was an avid fan of the GA Bulldogs. David is survived by his wife, Randy Holman Scharff, sons, Matthew Scharff and his wife Lou, Augusta, GA, Stephan Scharff, Augusta, GA, brother, Dr. Louis Scharff, III and his wife Dot, sister in law Nancy Brown and her husband Harry, grandchildren, Walker Scharff, Charles Scharff, nephews, Michael Scharff and his wife Robin, Laurence Scharff and his wife Ann, and Douglas Scharff. The family would like to thank all his friends and Sister Clara for all their support during David's illness. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 4, 2013 from 5-7pm at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 1134 Telfair St. Augusta, GA.
