Dr. Fred C. Kazlow - SAVANNAH - Dr. Fred C. Kazlow, 80, of Savannah, GA, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, March 21, 2010. Dr. Kazlow was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, the youngest of 3 sons. Following his high school education, he went on to graduate from Brooklyn College. He then married his summer camp sweetheart, Gloria Shapiro. From that point he went on to graduate from New York University School of Dentistry. Dr. Kazlow then joined the US Air Force and was stationed at Hunter Air Force Base here in Savannah. Fred and Gloria fell in love with Savannah and decided to make it their home. Dr. Kazlow was a devoted and loving parent for his three children, and doting grandfather to his four grandchildren. He remained devoted to his wife Gloria, who he has cared for at Savannah Squares Nursing Facility. Dr. Kazlow practiced dentistry for over 50 years in Savannah. His office, located on the corner of Liberty and Bull Streets, across from the DeSoto-Hilton Hotel, became a Savannah landmark. There he treated 3 generations of Savannahians and was loved by his patients. He always said that "attached to every tooth is a person" and he always got to know that person. He was a "painless" dentist who put a smile on a thousand faces. He was a respected member of Congregation Mickve Israel, and of the Savannah community at large. He is survived by his loving wife of over 55 years, Gloria S. Kazlow; their three children, Susan Kazlow Friedland, Dr. Gary Kazlow and Jodi Dawn Kazlow; four grandchildren, Arielle Kazlow, Sam, David and Mariah Friedland; a brother, Bernard Carson ( Bernice); a sister in law, Dr. Carol Kerr, of Savannah, and several nieces and nephews. Graveside Service: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday March 23, 2010 at Bonaventure Cemetery with Rabbi Arnold Belzer officiating. Memorial Contributions: Temple Mickve Israel in memory of Dr. Fred C. Kazlow, 20 E.
