Henry Hank D. Strickland, Sr. - SAVANNAH - Henry Hank D. Strickland, Sr., 81, of Savannah died Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Hospice Savannah. Hank was born in Morriston, FL and had lived in Savannah most of his adult life. He was a US Air Force veteran having served during the Korean War; a retired truck driver having worked for RC Motors and Ryder PIE Trucking and was a member of the Local Teamsters Union #728. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church for 21 years where he severed as a Deacon and was also a leader with the RA's (Royal Ambassadors). Following the closing of Memorial Baptist Church, Hank and his wife Bonnie joined Immanuel Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Bonnie Parrish Strickland; a son and daughter-in-law, Henry D. and Julie Strickland, Jr. of Portal; brother, Maurice Strickland (Dot); sister, Nadine Dixon (John); several nieces and nephews and other family. In lieu of flowers donations are asked to be sent to Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, September 21, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. followed by the burial in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
