James Edward Mac McDowell - GARDEN CITY - James Edward Mac McDowell, 69 passed away May 10, 2014 at Hospice Savannah. He was born to the late L.M. and Ruby McDowell in Anderson, SC and was the eldest of four children. He was educated in the public schools and a graduate of Westside High School Class of 1963. He continued his education in the United States Air Force, where he served his country honorably from 1963 to 1967. He furthered his studies in a vocational program for brick masonry and eventually became an accomplished brick mason. He is survived by: a devoted and loving wife of twenty-nine years, Saundra Mikell McDowell, daughter: Jamandra McDowell, sons: Gerrod Page and Michael Geeter, all of Savannah, sisters: Betty (Elder Arthur) Bluntt, Charleston, SC; and Joyce McGhee, Chicago, IL, brother: Billy (Jennifer) McDowell, Charlotte, NC; two precious grandchildren, Malachi and Kennedy, a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation: Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 6-8 pm at Sexton-Hall Funeral Home. Funeral Service: 11:00 am Friday, May 16, 2014 at United House of Prayer, 2301 W. Bay Street. Interment: Georgia Veteran Memorial Cemetery.
