Mark T. Basseches - SAVANNAH - Mark T. Basseches, 83, of Savannah, passed away peacefully on Saturday January 18, 2014 at his home with his devoted wife of 60 years, Janet, at his bedside. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He was a graduate of Colby College with a BA Degree and his LLB from Columbia Law School. Mark practiced Patent law until his retirement in 1996 and moved to Savannah. He served on the board of Fairview Country Club in Greenwich, CT, and was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. In addition to his wife, Janet, Mark is survived by two sons; Stuart (Judy) and Jeffrey (Robbin); a daughter Julie Booth (Mark); a brother Robert (Harriet); four grandchildren, Aaron, Ivy, Poppy, and Kai. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 27, 2014 at 11:00a.m. in the Chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home, with Rabbi Robert Haas officiating. Burial will be private. Mark's family would like to thank Hospice Savannah for the wonderful care they gave Mark and Janet during the most difficult times in their lives. The family will sit Shiva on Monday from 1:00p.m. to 5:00p.m. and 7:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. and again on Tuesday from 2:00p.m. to 5:00p.m. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, please make your contributions to Hospice Savannah, 1352 Eisenhower Dr., Savannah.
