Ruth W. Blacher - SAVANNAH - Ruth Weiner Blacher, 71, of Savannah, Georgia, died Friday morning, February 1, 2013, at her home. Born in Savannah, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Weiner and the late Rachel Fox Weiner. Ruth was a Bnai' Brith worker and once their Woman of the Year. She was a member of Hadassah, and a past president of the American Legion Post 184 Auxiliary, where she held local and national positions. Ruth was an avid reader and a talented seamstress. She attended the University of Georgia, and was a member of the Delta Phi Epsilon sorority. Ruth was affiliated with the Congregation Agudath Achim. Surviving are one son, Kayton Smith III and his wife, Cecil Marquez Smith, of Savannah, Georgia; two daughters, Debarah Holmer and her husband, Ray Holmer, of New Windsor, Maryland, and Nancy Michelle Mills and her husband, David Troy Mills, of Auburn, Alabama; five grandchildren, Christofer Kayton Smith, Evan Alexander Mills, Josie Marie Mills, Abbie Holmer and Daniel Holmer; two sisters, Sally Blankstein and her husband, Mitch, of Potomac, Maryland, and Jean Rudich and her husband, Leon, of Charleston, South Carolina, and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Ruven Barkan.
