Mr. William F. Bill Ledford - VIDALIA - Mr. William F. Bill Ledford died Thursday, December 12, 2013, at his residence following an extended illness. The Toombs County native was the Editor and Publisher of The Advance newspaper. He was a World War II veteran having served with the 656th Tank Destroyers. He was a former member of the Vidalia Kiwanis Club and spoke proudly of being a HODAR (Husband of a Daughter of the American Revolution). In June of this year, the Georgia Press Association acknowledged him as a GPA Golden Club Member for having worked in the newspaper industry for 77 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe Lid Ledford and Frances Bubba Ledford. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Rose Ledford of Vidalia; son, William F. Ledford Jr. of Vidalia; daughter Hanna Ledford, St. Augustine, FL; granddaughter Brittany Ledford, Los Angeles, CA; grandsons Will (Whitley) Ledford, Vidalia, Jesse Ledford, Athens, GA; and great-granddaughters Paisley Rose and Kendall Ledford, Vidalia. The funeral service and A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, December 16, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Don Moye officiating. Interment will be in the Pinecrest Cemetery in Vidalia. Visitation will be Sunday, December 15, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home in Vidalia.
