Carl I. Bensinger Sr., 62, of Pottsville, died Thursday morning at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street.

Born in Pottsville, Feb. 2, 1951, he was a son of the late Edward and Betty Reber Bensinger.

He was a graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School and attended Penn State University.

He was employed by Kraft Tech prior to retiring and later worked for the Schuylkill News Agency.

Carl was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville, where he was an active member of the Kitchen Committee, serving as co-chairman.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenny, Roy and David.

Surviving are his wife of 28 years, the former Ruth Moyer; five children, Tina McDonald and her husband, Michael, Schuylkill Haven, Carl I. Jr. and his wife, Sherri, Kristine, Andrew and Megan, all of Pottsville; siblings, Barry, Schuylkill Haven, Mary Brewer and her husband, Rick, Indiana, Ed and his wife, Cathy, Schuylkill Haven; seven grandchildren, Miranda Bainbridge, Zach Bensinger, Erin McDonald, McKinley Spencer, Cassandra Bensinger, Allison McDonald and Ryan McDonald; a great-grandson, Ethan Yost; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville, with the Rev. Harold L. Hand Jr. and the Rev. Peggy Sue Pfeffer officiating. Family and friends are invited to call from 9 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be private at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 W. Arch St., Pottsville, PA 17901. James E.
