Clayton F. Ost, 80, of Pottsville, passed away Wednesday at Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street.

Clayton was born in Pottsville, June 18, 1933, a son of the late Lester E. and Anna Houser Ost.

He was the husband of Naomi Morrow Ost.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville.

He served in the Army from 1955-1957, reaching the rank of captain.

He was co-owner and operator of Ost and Ost, Pottsville, with his brother, Daniel..

He was a graduate of both Pottsville Area High School, Class of 1951, and Penn State University, Class of 1955. Clayton was a member of the PA Automotive Wholesale Assn. (president from 1976-1977), Schuylkill United Way (president 1974-1975), board member and officer of Middle Atlantic Automotive Wholesalers, member and past-president of Pottsville Rotary Club, past member of Chamber of Commerce, member of Board of Directors (SEDCO), Pottsville City Council (1977-1980), Republican Committeeman 7th Ward, Board of Directors — Schuylkill Symphony, Penn State Schuylkill Advisory Board, charter member of Schuylkill County Community Chorus, and a former member and treasurer of Schuylkill County Municipal Authority.

Clayton was preceded in death by his first wife, Dallas Covany Ost; and a brother, Daniel Ost.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Kim Stramara (Michael), Orwigsburg, and Leslee Mayo (Ted), Orfield; a son, C. Bruce Ost, Marsh Harbor, The Bahamas; a sister, Nancy Mahall, Pottsville; grandchildren, F. Kyle Schoeneman, Orwigsburg, Nicholas Stramara, Ellicott, Md., and Max Stramara, Oriwgsburg; stepsons, John Morrow, Jr. (Valerie), Cressona, and Craig Morrow (Melvia), Orwigsburg; and step-grandchildren, Zachary, Adam and Daniel Morrow; nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville, at 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Peggy Sue Pfeffer officiating. A viewing will be held from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. At the family's request, memorial donations may be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church Elevator Fund, 300 W.
