Edward J. Ulmer, 85, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Sunday at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street.

Born in Minersville, May 19, 1927, he was a son of the late George and Margaret Holland Ulmer.

He was a graduate of Minersville High School and Penn State University.

Edward served in the Army during World War II.

He was the husband of Sara L. Wehry Ulmer.

Edward was employed by Alcoa in the drafting department. He also worked for Botts Auto Supply, where he worked the counter, and for Boscov's in the security department.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, George H. and Ronald J. Ulmer.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Susan Kanezo, Schuylkill Haven, and Diane M. Dean, Mount Joy; a son, John E. Ulmer, Boulder, Colo.; grandchildren, Jennifer, wife of Martin Stoyer Jr., Christopher Kanezo, Long Beach, N.J., Courtney, wife of Daniel Nice, Wilmington, Del., and Collin Dean, Mount Joy; great-grandchildren, Sara, Lillian, Nicholas and Nora; a sister-in-law, Nancy Ulmer, Minersville; and two nieces, Margaret Ulmer, Minersville, and Nancy, wife of George Hertz, Minersville.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Private interment will be held at Mount Peace Cemetery, Minersville. Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Schuylkill Haven, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
