Joan Smarr, 77, of 434 S. Lehigh Ave., Frackville, died Feb. 15 at her residence.

Born in Mahanoy City, May 10, 1935, she was a daughter of the late George and Anna Elko Smarr.

She graduated from the University of Illinois and retired as a supervisor from the state Department of Welfare.

Joan served in the Air Force during the Korean War.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy LaHage.

Surviving are a brother, George Smarr, El Paso, Texas; a nephew, Randolph Derricot, Frackville; and a niece, Bonnie Blankenship, Bridgeport, W.Va.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday from Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Nice Hart Funeral Home Inc., 9 N. Lehigh Ave., Frackville, PA 17931, is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences can be sent to
