John W. "Jack" Yaag, 78, of Mount Airy, Md., formerly of Auburn, died Monday at Gilchrist Hospice Care, Columbia, Md.

Born Sept. 19, 1935, in Palo Alto, he was a son of the late John W. and Mabel Bobbs Yaag.

He graduated from Pottsville High School and then attended Penn State University, earning a degree in mechanical engineering.

Jack served in the Army.

During his professional career, he worked in the field of engineering with Square D. He was then employed by the District of Columbia as a senior manager and earned a master's degree in management science at the National Graduate University, where he later taught management courses.

Jack was a member of the Lighthouse Church, Orwigsburg, Good Will Fire Company, Pottsville, and Phi Kappa Tau fraternity; and was also a Mason.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Ann "Dottie" Carl, with whom he celebrated 56 years of marriage on April 26; two daughters, Denise Yaag and her husband, Glenn Jackson, Ashton, Md., and Lori Record and her husband, Roger, Mount Airy, Md.; two grandchildren, Jordan and Luke Record; sister, Carolyn A. Watters and her husband, Carl, Exton; brother, William C. Yaag and his wife, Patricia "Sister," Pottsville; nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Lighthouse Church, Orwigsburg, with Pastor Mark Hochgertel officiating. Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Any contributions in remembrance of Jack may be made to the Lighthouse Church, 10 Hollenbush Drive, Orwigsburg, PA 17961. Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. James E.
