LeRoy Francis Fasold Jr., 89, died of cancer Thursday at his home in Laurel, Del.
Born in Pottsville, March 18, 1924, Roy was a son of LeRoy and Marian Fasold.
He served as a Navy radioman on Guam during World War II and continued to enjoy amateur radio until the end of his life.
Roy was a partner in Laurel TV & Sales for more than 40 years, and he loved music, his dog, the stock market and anything with sugar in it.
Roy was a former longtime member of Laurel Lions Club, the Civic Club, the Laurel Alumni Association and St. Philip's Episcopal Church, where he served on the vestry.
Roy's first wife, Helen, died in 1963.
Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Mary Ann; his son, Tom Fasold; his stepchildren, Jim Hopkins and Karen Pugh (Chuck); grandchildren, Dana Johnson (Dennis), Alexis Fasold, Brian Pugh (Meghan), and Patrick Pugh; four great-grandchildren; a brother, John Fasold; and his longtime friend and business partner, Cecil Parker.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, 600 S. Central Ave., Laurel, Del. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Wreaths Across American, P.O. Box 249, Columbia Falls, ME 04623 (www.wreathsacrossamerica.org). WAA is committed to teaching younger generations about the value of their freedoms and the importance of honoring veterans and active military who sacrificed so much to protect those freedoms.
