Al passed away peacefully on March 23, 2013 at the age of 84. He was born July 5, 1928 in Detroit, and graduated from the University of Michigan College of Engineering after serving in the army. He was married to Laureen A. DuMouchel from 1955 until her passing in 1990, and together they raised a family in Royal Oak, MI. He owned and ran A.V. Kurt Construction in the Detroit area for many years. He loved U-M football, the cottage in northern Michigan, the Florida Keys, and a wide group of friends. Later in his life, he also lived in Punta Gorda, FL and Seattle.
He is survived by his sons, Kurt and Al (Lisa), and grandsons Kyle and Grant, all of Seattle; a brother, Robert, of Cadillac, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He will be buried with Laureen at Tahoma National Cemetery on Tuesday, April 16, at 11 am. Donations in his honor may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children and the
