Alyne B. Richard|
Born February 1, 1935 in Bremerton, Washington to William and Gertrude Buchanan and passed away on October 30, 2013 at the Bayview Manor in Seattle. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother George. Alyne resided in Bremerton until 1956 when she moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington.
Alyne was a graduate of Bremerton High School and Olympic College and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington in 1958. After her children were grown she worked for several years at the University of Washington as an accountant in Romance Languages, Physics of Fluids and the Medical School.
In 1959 she married Fred Richard and was married for over 54 years and is survived by her husband and two children, Gary (Anh) and Janet, and numerous cousins and nieces and nephews whom she fully enjoyed.
Alyne had the opportunity to travel to many parts of the world but one of her proudest accomplishments was to climb to the top of Mount Olympus in the Olympic National Park while a college student. She also enjoyed her many friends with whom she played bridge, met at the Women's University Club, her church affiliations, neighbor and classmate get-togethers, particularly the Birthday Girls. Special thanks to Providence Hospice of Seattle for their compassionate support to both Alyne and her family during her illness.
Alyne was a member of University Presbyterian Church, the Women's University Club, the University of Washington Alumni Association and the Kitsap County Historical Society.
A memorial service will be held at the University Presbyterian Church on Thursday, November 14 at 1:00 p.m., 4540 15th Ave. N.E., Seattle, WA 98105. Memorial donations may be made to Providence Hospice of Seattle or the University Presbyterian Church or
