Barbara Esme Mitchell|
Barbara Mitchell, age 86, passed away peacefully on July 30th in Bellevue. She was born June 15, 1927, in Hoquiam to Kenward Errol and Ethel May (Mourant) Ross. She graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1945 and attended the University of Washington, majoring in English and art history while pledging as a Tri Delta, like her mother. She married Frederick W. Mitchell in 1951 from whom she later divorced. Throughout her career as a secretary, she worked for the City of Seattle and the University of Washington Graduate School. Barbara loved doing crossword puzzles, playing the piano, was an avid reader who loved to garden and was a staunch democrat. She is pre-deceased by her parents and brother, Philip Kenward Ross. She is survived by her 3 children: Barbara Jo (Michael) Connolly of Sammamish, William Mitchell and his partner Richard Mohan of Seattle and Scott (Janet) Mitchell of Bonney Lake. She is also survived by her sister Patricia Haarstad of Chesterfield, NJ, sister-in-law Eileen Ross of Seattle and 3 grandchildren; Joseph (Megan) Connolly, Brandon and Thomas Mitchell along with one great grandchild.
