Barbara Jean King Obituary
Barbara Jean King

Born in Seattle January 24, 1927 to Truman Ross and Charlotte Spath Peterson, Mom was charming and made friends wherever she went. She attended St. George School, Cleveland High School (class of 1945) and Seattle University. She started working at Seattle First National Bank at age 16 and her employers over the years included the University of Washington, King County and Boeing. She was an Avon representative for many years and enjoyed meeting with her clients and showing them how to look their best.

Though she worked full time in an era when many women did not, her enduring vocation was mother to Carol, Jane, Teri, Tim and Kimberly. As they grew up, left home, and started families of their own, she shifted some of her mothering energy to a succession of cats and grandchildren. Mom loved children of all ages and they found her fascinating and easy to talk to. She was active at Seattle Children's and helped to start a hospital guild.

She was predeceased by her parents, sister June Robinson and brother Don Peterson. She is survived by her 5 children and 5 grandchildren, her sister-in law and 4 nieces. A family memorial will be held at a future date. Remembrances to Seattle Children's Hospital.
