Barbara Ruth Kyzar

Barbara Ruth Kyzar was born on July 9, 1929 in Seattle, Washington to Harold and Bernice Boomer and died on July 2, 2014. Barbara grew up at Fauntleroy, graduating from West Seattle High School in 1947 and attended the University of Washington and Seattle University while also working at the telephone company. She married Charles Kyzar in 1951 and they lived in Marblemount and Brier, Washington while raising their two daughters. Barbara returned to Seattle University in 1980 and graduated from the Alcohol and Drug Program. She worked at three different treatment centers in the Seattle area as a chemical dependency counselor. She and Charles moved back to her beloved Alki in 1983 and Charles passed away in 1996. She is survived by daughters Lynell Lewis (Larry) of Stanwood and Laurie Hansen (Steve) of Kirkland, grandchildren Natalie Hagglund (Ben), Brent Lewis (Jacqueline), Kyle Hansen and Lauren Hansen. Great Grandchildren are Jonathan and Abigail Hagglund and Elliot Lewis. She is also survived by her sister Joan Johnson of Snohomish.

Barbara was a member of the Christian Faith Center and a long time volunteer for Al Anon. She was a friend of Bill W. for many years. She loved Alki and the beach. She moved to Emeritus at West Seattle in 2012. The family would like to thank Group Health Hospice and Emeritus for their excellent care. There will be no services upon her request.
