Bernard T. (Bernie) Roach Obituary
Bernard T. (Bernie) Roach

Long time Ballard businessman and lifelong Seattle resident, Bernie Roach, passed away from complications of ALS on Wednesday, July 10, 2013. Bernie was born on November 17, 1944 to parents Tully (deceased) and Ruth (deceased). He is survived by his children April, Amy and Travis (Alycia) Roach; grandchildren Peyton and Tyler; his brother Tom Roach (Kerstin) as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Bernie graduated from Ballard High School's class of 1963. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. In partnership with his good friend Steve Halbakken, he owned and operated the Butcher Shoppe in Ballard for nearly three decades.

Bernie came from a deeply religious family, one that was also musically inclined. He possessed a beautiful singing voice and was proud to sing in the church choir on Sundays and for special services. He loved traveling in his motor home, fishing, golfing and especially telling jokes.

A memorial service celebrating Bernie's life will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Ballard First Lutheran Church - 2006 NW 65th St, Seattle WA. In lieu of flowers, remembrances are suggested to the ALS Association or Ballard First Lutheran Church.
