Fr. Brian P. HART|
Born March 4, 1936 in Belfast, Ireland; died February 18, 2013 in Seattle. Fr. Hart is survived by his sister, Margo Johnson; brother, Kevin Hart (Eileen); numerous nephews and nieces; and many friends and Parishioners.
Fr. Hart was ordained June 16th 1963 at All Hallows College, Dublin. After moving to the United States, Fr. Hart settled into Parish life at St. Edwards Church where he ministered to the people of the Rainier Valley for the next 7 years. When a call went out for Chaplains to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces, Fr. Hart knew he had found his true calling. He became a Navy Chaplin and was quickly assigned to the U. S. Marine Corps. After tours in Viet Nam Fr. Hart had assignments in Camp Lejeune, NC, Puerto Rico, Pensacola FL,
Bangor Naval base and finally Bremerton Naval Hospital. After 20 years of service Fr. Hart retired from his career in the Navy with the rank of Lieutenant commander.
Fr. Hart always feeling a hunger for knowledge decided to further his education and went to Rome to pursue a graduate degree in Ethics. He wrote his Thesis on the Chaplin Corp. After returning to Washington State, Fr. Hart became a vital part of the Parishes on the Peninsula, working in the various churches as well as the Naval Base and Naval Hospital. Even after he was diagnosed with Lymphoma he continued his work with the church and its many charities. Fr. Hart would have celebrated 50 years as a priest on June 16th 2013.
Recitation of the Rosary will be Monday February 25th, at 10 AM and the Funeral Mass will follow at 11 AM BOTH at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 500 Venata Ave, Bremerton, WA 98337. Interment, Calvary Cemetery, Seattle.
