Craig D. Reed

Obituary Condolences

Craig D. Reed

Craig Douglas Reed, 63, of Portland, died September 23rd. He was born to the late Charles and Irene Reed, January 20, 1950 in Seattle, WA. He grew up on Vashon Island near Seattle, graduated from Oregon State University and received his Masters of Fine Arts at the Univ. of WA. For over 30 years he had been a resident of the Portland area where early in his career he taught wildlife sculpture at Portland Forestry Center. Though he kept it quiet, Craig was a gifted artist and sculptor, and an excellent storyteller. He was the keeper of his family's memories and was happiest while sharing them. His laugh shook the rafters and is one of his niece's favorite sounds. There are very few beings who live with such a deep love as he offered to others, human or animal. He had a wicked sense of humor, and was most fond of telling an off-color joke when one was least expecting it. He is irreplaceable. Craig was preceded in death by his brother, Christopher G. Reed, and his sister, Karen Reed Wikelund. He is survived by his brother, Stephen C. Reed, step-brother, Greg Luscher, sister-in-law, Paula Borden Reed, nephews, Jeffery C. Reed and Jason R. Reed and niece, Erica I. Reed.
