Daniel Beecher Abraham

Daniel Beecher Abraham, 89, born May 19, 1923 on a farm near Forest Grove, Oregon, died Feb. 26, at home in San Rafael, CA. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Susan Abraham of San Rafael, CA, her daughter Mary Enbom (Scott) and their two daughters, Greenbrae, CA; daughter Catherine Ann Brewer (Roy) Des Moines, WA; daughter, Cynthia Helen Beecher, Healdsburg, CA; son, Dan James Abraham (Kathy) Seattle, WA, grandchildren Renee Brewer Takoma Park, MD, Braden Abraham (Cheyenne Casbieri), Bonnie Swift (Matthew Evinger) Seattle, WA, and two great-granddaughters, Phoenix and Rowan. He is predeceased by daughter Joyce Abraham, her mother Jo Abraham, sister Sue Roberts, brother Keith Abraham, and parents Keith and Helen Abraham. His brother Clay was killed in WWII.

He graduated from Franklin High School in Portland, OR, in 1941. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946, and graduated from Oregon State College School of Forestry in 1950. He served on nine national forests and two regional offices in Oregon, Washington, and California. He retired in 1978 as Forest Supervisor of the Klamath National Forest in Yreka, CA. He did volunteer work for the Marin County Open Space District for more than 20 years with an emphasis on the Sun Valley Area where he took daily hikes, and made many lasting friendships. He showed us the magic in nature and in books and used his wits, humor and intelligence to light the path.
