David James Rohrbaugh|
Born January 4, 1936 in Ethiopia to missionary parents James and Marion Rohrbaugh. Died October 24, 2012.
David attended Garfield High School and the University of Washington, where he was a member of the crew team. After graduation, David joined Boeing, where he was employed in the Space Defense Division until retiring in 1993. In 1989, David was inducted as a Full Member of the International Academy of Astronautics, an honor awarded to only three other Boeing employees at the time.
David married Colleen (Murray) Matson in 1978. Together, they traveled extensively, making friends all over the world. He and Colleen enjoyed many years of hosting golf tournaments and barbecues on Samish Island. David was an active golfing member and past president of Sand Point Country Club.
In addition to Colleen, David is survived by his sister Joanne Meyers, brother Richard (Miriam), son Mark (Nanette) Rohrbaugh, step-son Stephen (Cynthia) Matson, step-daughter Karen (Jack) Donohue and seven grandchildren. David was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie.
A memorial celebration is planned for November 2nd at 1:00 p.m. at Seattle Community Church, 4501 46th Ave NE, Seattle. www.seattlechurch.org.
