Edwin V. LANGDON, Jr.|
October 9, 1944 ~ August 25, 2013
Our beloved Ed Langdon passed away August 25th into the care of God after a short battle with cancer. Ed's love of life was infectious and his bold laugh filled a room. He never knew a stranger. He welcomed others so easily into his life. Ed was the life of the party. He will be forever remembered for his mussel appetizer and sharing the contents of his wine cellar. His generosity was best displayed at the annual LifeWire auction. The auctioneer knew him by name and he loved bumping up the bid! He always came home with some unneeded item that no one else was bidding on. He loved making a difference in people's lives.
Born in Savannah Georgia Ed and his family moved frequently due to his father's job.
Ed attended University of Michigan before joining the Marine Corps in 1967. He was selected for Officers Candidate School and received orders to Vietnam. As stated by his Marine Corps classmates, "Ed had an unspoken promise that if you were in trouble on the battlefield or off, he would risk himself to come to your aid." He returned home and graduated in Architecture from University Washington. Ed spent most of his career at Hourborview Medical Center and has been enjoying his years of retirement.
He embarked on his greatest adventure when he fell in love and married Barbara Hope. Barbara & Ed explored the world together. Their life was filled with adventure and laughter. How many police officers can you meet in Europe? Families merged, babies were born and a joyous new family was created. Ed loved his family dearly and was at his best at family gatherings with small grandchildren under foot. He would sit on the patio with a glass of wine and glow in the chaos.
Ed's spirit has touched so many people who will miss him so dearly. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara; and sons and daughter in laws Andrew & Katie and Aaron & Mary; stepsons and daughter in laws Matthew & Taryn Hope and Dan & Dawn Hope. He is also survived by his little brother Greg Langdon and sister in law Janet; and nephews Kyle and Shay. His loving spirit will watch over his cherished grandsons Fox Langdon & Isaac Hope.

A celebration of Ed's Life will be held Saturday, September 7th @ 1:00 at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 10021 NE 124th St., Kirkland WA.
As requested by Ed we will attempt to empty his wine cellar immediately following the service at Barbara & Ed's home in Kirkland. All are welcome.
