Gaylia R. Meitzen

Gaylia passed away March 23, 2013, in Seattle at the age of 59. She was born on November 21, 1953 in Blackfoot, Idaho the daughter of Eugene E. Bendixsen and Veda Bendixsen Heath. She moved with her family to the Seattle area in August 1968. Gaylia graduated from West Seattle High School and went on to study at various community colleges and the University Of Washington. She worked at Boeing for several years and was working in the accounting department when she left the company. She married Carl E. Meitzen and enjoyed 10 wonderful years with him until his death in 1997. Gaylia loved to go fishing, boating, to football games and traveling. She was a supporter of University Of Washington Football and held season tickets for many years. For the past few years she has been active in the community by being on the Board Of Directors of the Benaroya Research Institute since 2007 until her passing. Additionally she was chair of the BRI Development Committee and a member of the Virginia Mason Foundation Board. She is survived by her second spouse, Stephen M. Quintrell of Seattle, her mother, Veda Bendixsen Heath of Idaho Falls, Idaho, her sister, Vicki B. Lindberg of Seattle and many wonderful extended family members in many various cities and states. She is preceded in death by her father, Eugene E. Bendixsen. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to the Benaroya Research Institute, PO Box 1930, Seattle, Washington 98111.
