George Robert Herrold Obituary
George Robert Herrold

June 19, 1920 ~November 18, 2012

Loving husband, Father, and Grandfather. George passed away peacefully from complications with pneumonia in Seattle.

He was born in Bellingham Washington and spent a majority of his youth there. He later attended the University of Washington for two years until WWII erupted with the attack on Pearl Harbor. Hearing the call of duty, George enlisted in the U S Navy and proudly served in both the European and Pacific theaters aboard the USS Susan B. Anthony, LST 357, and LST 709 respectively. He was honorably discharged at the end of the war with a rank of Chief Petty Officer.

He returned to the university after the war and received his bachelor of science in mechanical engineering. A life long Husky fan, he enjoyed attending football, men's basketball and women's volleyball games. He spent 37 years, as an engineer, manager and director at the Boeing Company until his retirement in 1985.

He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years Kathleen; son John, daughter-in-law Heidi, granddaughter Kelsey and grandson Andrew. He is also survived by a sister, Mary Nelson and Kathleen's extended family. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Jane Herrold. As George requested, a private service will be held in the near future.
