Harold B. "Bernie" Fredrickson, 90, longtime resident of Edmonds died March 24, 2013 in Poulsbo. He was born October 28, 1922 in Seattle to Harold and Doris Fredrickson.
Harold graduated from Ballard High School in 1941 and went to the University of Washington where he majored in Fine Arts and played football for the Huskies. His time there was interrupted by World War II when he served in the US Coast Guard. After the war, he returned to UW and completed his degree. In 1950 he married Helen Rice. Harold returned to the UW for his teaching degree. He started teaching and coaching at Lake Stevens High School. He then came to the Edmonds School District where he taught at Terrace High School and coached football, tennis and swimming. He also taught evening art classes at Edmonds Community College for many years.
He is survived by his daughters, Dona (John) Fredrickson-Wayand and Lila (Barry) Webberley; grandchildren: Nic Wayand, Rosie Wayand, Marissa (Stephen) Wegzyn, Kristina Webberley, and James Webberley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1981.
Graveside services will be Saturday, March 30 at 1:00 PM, at Evergreen Washelli Cemetery.
