Herbert John Schnaidt, Jr., D.D.S.

Born to Herbert J. and Leona M. (Loffler) Schnaidt January 29, 1928.

Died peacefully at home September 30, 2013.

Graduated from Garfield High

School and attended the University of Washington, where he affiliated with Alpha Delta Phi Fraternity. Graduated from Whitman College, served two years in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War, and graduated from the University of Washington School of Dentistry. Practiced dentistry in Seattle for 33 years. Supported many humanitarian and conservation causes. Loved classical music and enjoyed sailing, having had several memorable cruises with teenaged friends in an open 18-foot sailboat in the San Juan Islands and Canadian Gulf Islands. Designed and built an extensive landscape that he and his wife planted and gardened together. Brought up his children with a love of the outdoors and nature. Survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Ann (Clark) Schnaidt, daughter Ann Schnaidt of Fort Collins, CO, daughter Katherine Schnaidt (James Shuff) of Seattle, and son William Schnaidt (Susan Bradley) and grandson Henry Schnaidt of Ann Arbor, MI. Those wishing to honor his memory may donate to Doctors Without Borders or the local Salvation Army.
