JM Pelham Obituary
JM Pelham

Age 80

Lifetime resident of Seattle and graduate of Franklin High School Class of 1951, JM Pelham passed away during the early hours of March 8, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Greta; his sister, Coleen Montgomery of Oklahoma; his children Jon, Blythe, Shawn, Heather, Ruth, Brett, Pat, Tim, Jeff, and Heidi; and their spouses and children (living around the world). Preceding him in death were his parents Harold and Blanche (Robison) Pelham.

Always outgoing, JM was likely to strike up conversations with anyone who crossed his daily pathway. This was an especially helpful trait throughout his years as an antiques dealer and furniture refinisher. For a number of years, he and his partners operated Cap'n Sam's Loft, a large, warehouse-style antiques store on 1st Avenue South across from the old Sears store. Prior to dealing in antiques, Pelham served in the U.S. Army in Europe during the Korean War. Only in recent years did he give up one of his favorite pastimes, salmon fishing in Puget Sound.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at the West Seattle Golf Course, 4470-35th Avenue SW, on Thursday, March 20 from 2-5 pm. JM's family suggests as a token of remembrance that friends pay it forward with unsolicited acts of kindness in honor of his demonstrative nature.
