June 6, 1934 ~ December 24, 2013
Jim, a proud native Seattlelite, passed away Christmas Eve, at his Quilcene Bay home, surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife, Carol, son, Doug Christiansen (Theresa), and daughters, Wendie Schliebe (Richard) and Michelle Fleming (Bret), grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He graduated from the University of Washington spending his professional career in educational administration at the U of W and the Seattle Community College District in business and finance until he retired in 1994.
Jim enjoyed life to the fullest, traveling locally and around the world extensively, cooking creatively, reading, and enjoying the beauty of his surroundings. He believed strongly in community volunteer efforts and gave considerable time and expertise to local causes during his retirement.
The beauty of nature in all seasons held a special place in his heart and spirit. Jim's favorite season, spring, will be the time for a party to celebrate his life. It will be held Saturday, March 22, 2014, at one o'clock in the afternoon at Edmonds Conference Center, 201 4th Avenue North, Edmonds (www.EdmondsConferenceCenter.com).
