James Louis Austin Sr. Obituary
James Louis Austin, Sr.

James Louis Austin, Sr., a man of impeccable character and generosity, left this earth to be in the presence of Christ on the morning of December 31, 2013. In addition to his immediate family members, he left nephews, nieces, cousins and friends whom he blessed through his faithfulness and love. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and received an Air Medal for distinguished service. Following his time in the military, Jim worked for Sears Roebuck, retiring in 1975 as Operating Superintendent of the world's second largest catalog plant. He then used his skills as a Senior Vice-President of Human Relations at Peoples National Bank (now U.S. Bank). Jim's talents went far beyond the corporate world, and upon retirement, he used his tools and hands to beautify his and his children's homes and set his mind to conquering the new world of personal computers, which he made sure his grandchildren could navigate. His greatest love, however, was his wife of 69 years, Berdeena. Jim is also survived by his son James Louis Austin, Jr. (Lesley), daughter Janyce Anderson (Dennis), son Michael Austin (Carrie), granddaughters Lindsey Austin and Chaya Anderson, grandsons Chad Austin, Michael Austin, Nathan Anderson, James Austin, Ryan Anderson (Camlyn), Luke Austin, Benjamin Anderson, Jacob Austin (Alicia), and Philip Austin, and great-grandchildren Edwin, Evie, and Elliot Austin. He was 92.

Services will be held Saturday, January 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Shoreline Covenant Church, where Jim and Berdeena have worshipped for many years.
