Joanna Farris, 74, died peacefully in Seattle on January 31, 2013. She was born July 21, 1938 in Victoria, B.C and grew up in West Seattle. She graduated from the University of Washington, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Business and later a Master's in Education. Joanna worked as a business educator, and became a pioneer in developing high school computer curriculum for Seattle Public Schools. Her years teaching at Garfield High School were the most rewarding.
Joanna loved her family, traveling, and following Mariners baseball and Husky football.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Albert Farris, in 2002. She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Inoue and Julie Gossard, son-in-law David Gossard, grandsons Zachary and Eric Inoue, brother Douglas Johnson, sister-in-law Nancy Johnson, and numerous friends and relatives.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at West Side Presbyterian Church, 3601 California Avenue SW, Seattle.
