John Columbus Wilson|
Born Dec. 21, 1928. Passed away on Jan. 2, 2013. John was 84.
Born in Grady, New Mexico and studied at Southern Oregon College, Ashland, Oregon. He enlisted in the US Navy on Nov. 20, 1946. Overseas tours included Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam and US tours included Pensacola Fl., Stockton CA., Bremerton WA. and Pearl Harbor HI. John served in the Korean War, Vietnam War and Atom Bomb testing at sea. Retired from active duty on Nov. 30, 1976, 13 years as a Master Chief Petty Officer. John worked for Civil Service at Sand Point, WA. in security and communications extending his Government service of 45 years retiring on Oct. 22, 1992.
John married Mary Donna Wilson (Yun-Yang Chen) in Taipei Taiwan on May 22, 1957 and they raised 5 sons and 2 daughters. In Hawaii, he enjoyed taking them to the beach, catch fish with nets and fishing poles. After moving to Washington, he got back into hunting. He also enjoyed attending his children's sporting events.
John renewed his faith in Jesus Christ after he and his family moved back to Washington. He eventually found Westhill Church and had been attending since 1997. John joined the Biblical Israel Tour with fellow church members and was re-baptized in the Jordan River in Feb. 7, 2003.
John was a very giving person with a big heart. He was always helping others in need without expecting anything in return. He donated to over 20 charities and organizations. Loved telling sea stories to everyone.
John was superseded in death by his late wife on Aug. 20, 1997. He is survived by Linda, Dale, Terry, James, Timothy, John and Daniel and their families of 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service (placing of urn in vault) will take place on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at Mountain View Cemetery, 2020 Mountain View Drive, Auburn, WA 98001 at 11:00am. The church service will follow at Westhill Church, 29926 37th Ave, S. Auburn, WA 98001.
