Junious Eugene Hagglund, 83, of Everett slipped away in his sleep to join the faithful early Friday, Jan. 4, surrounded by his family.
Dad was born January 20, 1929, to Erick Albin and Eugenia (Erikson) Hagglund near Maxwelton on Whidbey Island. He graduated from Lake Stevens High School in 1947.
As a youngster Dad aspired to work on the ferries that cross Puget Sound. He started his career on the ferry Kitsap in the 40's with the Puget Sound Navigation Company.
In the 50's he served in the US Army for two years. He was later licensed as a Mate and pilot for the ferries by the US Coast Guard.
Dad was licensed as a Master in 1967 and retired as a captain for Washington State Ferries in 1979.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances; his parents; his brothers Levoy, Roy, and Alfred; and his sister Mildred Anderson.
He is survived by his brother Herman (Ann); his sons Jim (Lauri), Dale (Debbie) and Andrew (Kim); grandsons A.J., Michael, Paul, Cory, Chandler and Julian; three great grand-children; step-children Donald (Pat) Hagglund and Helen (Orlin) Griggs; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation from 5-8 PM on Jan. 10 and memorial service at 11 AM on Jan. 11 at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4504 Broadway, Everett.
