Lou (Johnson) Donnell, peacefully passed away at the age of 88, Saturday evening on December 27, 2013, surrounded by family at her home in Brier, Washington. Lou was born on October 13, 1925 in Nelson, British Colombia, the daughter of Rollie and Laura Johnson.
Lou was an alumna of Ballard High School and graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in Journalism.
Some of her favorite memories include lifelong friendships with campfire girlfriends, living and working in New York, trips to Mexico with close friends, community involvement in Belfair, Washington (where she was editor of Huckleberry Herald and served as Mason County fire commissioner), and volunteering for ACT.
In her retirement, Lou enjoyed traveling with friends and family; especially spending lots of time with her grandchildren taking them on adventures and attending family camping trips where she created fun scavenger hunts.
Lou was a dedicated, loving, and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. She is survived by her sister Nan (Johnson) Isakson, sister-in-law Marge (Donnell) Carothers, her children, Jeff, Pete, Dan, Cindy and Candy, as well as 15 grandchildren, 5.5 great grandchildren, 9 nieces and nephews and her much beloved cats.
Lou was preceded in death by her husband Roy, sister Dean and brother Randall.
