Marine Tomoko "Tomo" Iwasaki|
Marine T. Iwasaki, 83, passed away February 9, 2013. She was born in Spanaway, Wa to Shotaro and Shizu Iwasaki on February 24, 1929.
Tomo was a graduate of Franklin High School and attended the University of Washington. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the UW (Harborview Division), subsequently becoming an RN. During her career in Nursing her major focus was Public Health. She practiced in Southern California for a number of years. Returning to Washington, she sought a position with King County Public Health. Eventually, she became Nursing Supervisor for both the SW and SE King County Health Dept. She retired in 1982.
Tomo was a longtime Mercer Island resident. She lived on the Island until her illness forced her to move to Seattle Keiro where she passed way.
She is survived by her sisters, Chiz Iwasaki and Decko Shibuya and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents and siblings: Aik Kawabata, Atch Sakamoto, and Gaylord Toyo Iwasaki.
Per her request there was no service. Burial will be held at a later date.
