Our guide, confidant, teacher, friend; our mother, Mavis Arlene Norton passed away on July 21st. She was born in Seattle to Elvina and Casper Skorstad in 1927 and grew up in the Sunset Hill and Phinney Ridge neighborhoods, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1944. She attended the University of Washington after high school working at the UW bookstore and modeling locally. While at the UW she met Harry Norton, the man she would happily spend the rest of her life with. A beautiful and strong woman with an active mind, she loved reading, dancing, singing, gardening, traveling, golfing and spending time with family and friends. Mavis is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Norton (who passed on March 31, 2012), and by her son Charles Peter Norton. She is survived by her children: daughters, Susan Kennedy (Rick, children- Jaime and Nick) and Kim Kvinge (Jorn, children- Henry and Annemarie), son, Matthew Norton, Charles Norton's family (Kathi Dwyer, children- Taniko, Devin and Conor), sister, Laverne Otness, two great grandchildren, and many beloved friends.
