Naomi F. Sugar, MD

Naomi, age 62, died July 20, 2013 with family at her side. Naomi's passion and career was helping vulnerable children. She was the medical director of the Harborview Center for Sexual Assault and Traumatic Stress, lead physician at the Harborview Foster Care Clinic, an attending at Harborview and Seattle Children's Hospital, and Clinical Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics at the University of Washington. Nationally recognized, throughout

her career she took great pleasure in mentoring hundreds of professionals involved in child health and welfare. Survived by her husband Eric Feldman, children Daniel Feldman and Elana Feldman, sister Deborah Klein, brother Jonathan Sugar, and predeceased by her son, William. Naomi was born March 5, 1951 in Santa Monica, California. She attended University High School in Los Angeles then UCSC and SUNY Buffalo where she received an MA in English Lit. Medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin was followed by a pediatrics residency at Pittsburgh Children's Hospital, and then a fellowship in behavioral pediatrics at the University of Washington. Her warm heart, gentle spirit and smile will be missed...forever. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Dr. Naomi Sugar Fund, UW Foundation, to support the care of children involved in the child welfare system.
