Robert A. Boyd Sr.|
Robert Alan Boyd, Sr. born April 22, 1926 in Iowa City, Iowa died in Auburn, Washington on August 31st, 2013. His parents were Dr. Julian Deigh Boyd and Mildred Engelhardt Boyd. Bob served in the 24th Infantry Division during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained on Mindanao, Philippine Islands. He studied at the University of Iowa where he met and married Mary Louise Hamilton of Seattle.
After college, Bob worked for 31 years at Frederick & Nelson, attaining the position of V.P. of Personnel and Director of Labor Relations. Following an early retirement from F&N he was appointed Director of the new Washington State Lottery. The Boyd's had been married 66 years at the time of his death. He enjoyed golf, travel, cooking, genealogy, and amateur art, having produced some 200 watercolors from their world travels. In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by a son, Robert Jr., a daughter, Judith Portteus, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Deigh Boyd. At his request there will be no public services.
