After a career spanning 30 years in the Submarine Force of the United Stated Navy, Robbie went on Eternal Patrol with no regrets or dreams unfulfilled. Robbie served during World War II in the Pacific theatre, the Korean and Vietnam conflicts, was Past Commander of Submarine Veterans WWII, Past President and Secretary-Treasurer of Washington State Submarine Veterans WWII, Life Member of Holland Club Seattle Base U.S. Submarine Veterans Incorporated (USSVI), Life Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2995. He was active with Scottish Clan Donnachaidh Society, was Seattle Games Chieftain in 1998, Member of Fleet Reserve Association Seattle Branch 18, active in the Tahoma National Cemetery Support Group. Loving Husband to his wife Theresa for 68 years, Loving Father of son Robert D. Robertson, Jr. and daughters Sue Greenfeld and Amy Wade, Granddaughter Darcy Kremin and her husband Terry, and Great Granddaughters Joey and Fiona. He is survived by his brother Norman and sisters Ruth and Barbara.
His Memorial will be held March 13, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, WA.
Due to his commitment to all Veteran causes, a Memorial Scholarship to Honor his Memory has been set up in his name. In lieu in flowers, contributions in his memory should be sent to USSVI-CF, P.O. 3870, Silverdale, WA 98383, marked for Cdr. Robert D. Robertson Memorial Scholarship.
