Rodney Malcolm Walton Cook

Dr. Rodney Cook, age 81 died on December 29th at 6:00 pm. He was born September 25th 1932, London, England. He was evacuated to the U.S. in July 1940 when he was 7 years old. He was raised by Kenneth Rowe who was a University of Michigan professor, and Helen Rowe. He grew up in Ann Arbor Michigan, and attended college at University of Michigan, where he received a medical degree in 1955. He served his internship and residency at Mary Hitchcock Hospital, Dartmouth College, Hanover NH. In August of 1957, Rodney enlisted as a medical officer in the army. He served one year in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and another year on the island of Enewetak in the Marshall Islands. He was honorably discharged in 1964. Rodney served a fellowship in pediatric surgery at the Children's Hospital in Louisville, K.Y. from 1964-1965. From 1965-1993 he was a general and pediatric surgeon at Group Health Cooperative of Puget Sound, Seattle, WA. In 1967 he joined the volunteer Snoqualmie Ski Patrol Doctors. After retiring from medicine, he took up adventurous wood working with a retired Boeing engineer, one of his childhood friends. Survived by his wife Willie, daughter Anne (Kerry), son Michael (Jody), son Gerald (Sharon) and ten grandchildren of whom he was very proud.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
